Spring 2011 Events-National Child Abuse Prevention Month

In: General Info|Spring 2011 Events

21 Jan 2011

Our next fundraising events will be in April, 2011 in recognition of National Child Abuse Prevention Month. Our events will include  the Miles4Kids Silent Auction and Bake Sale and the Miles4Kids Fitness Challenge. Last spring, both events raised a total of $3200 in donations to support our local child abuse prevention agency -Kansas Children’s Service League .  In Spring 2011, we hope to exceed $3200!!

The Miles4Kids Silent Auction and Bake Sale will be held at Yoder Meats West in Wichita, KS. on April 16, 2011 from 10-2:30 p.m.  Last year, wonderful businesses and individuals donated a variety items for our silent auction and baked sale; which helped make it a success.  This year, we are in need of new items to use in our auction; items such as gift cards, toys, baby items, movie tickets, electronics –basically anything that is new!   If you can help with donated items, please leave us a comment below or contact us at info@miles4kids.org.

For the Miles4Kids Fitness Challenge, Jerry and I are training to run in the Oklahoma City Memorial Marathon on May 1, 2011.  Yes, we are going to try it again and go for the 26.2 miles and we’re keeping our fingers crossed. Our 18 week training plan for the marathon is currently in progress and will continue until the race. In March, 2011 we also begin recruiting team members to participate in their own fitness challenge during the month of April to help us with fundraising.  More details will follow.

If you would like to donate items for our silent auction, or sponsor our run,  you may use the online donation button or contact us at info@miles4Kids.org. Keep following us here, Facebook or Twitter as we prepare for our Spring, 2011 events.
