About Us

What is Miles4Kids

Miles4Kids is a fundraising team that uses health and fitness as a platform to engage the community in supporting  agencies, organizations  and programs that serve vulnerable youth and their families.

Our Mission Statement

To support local agencies, organizations  and programs which serve vulnerable youth and their families that focus on the youth’s physical and emotional well being.

What We Do

  • Create awareness about ensuring that youth are raised in safe and nurturing homes, free from abuse and neglect.
  • Advocate for programs that focus on empowering vulnerable youth and their families.
  • Create events which raises money  for a selected local,  non-profit agency that serves vulnerable youth and their families.
  • Participate in local and regional fitness events that promote and model a healthy lifestyle.
  • Dedicate all the miles we run to the programs, youth and families we represent.
  • Host  the Running with Miles4Kids podcast (found on iTunes),  which enables us to discuss topics related to health and fitness, as well as issues surrounding  youth and families.

What We’ve Accomplished Since April, 2010

With the help of individuals, local businesses and agencies, Miles4Kids has raised more than $11,200 in donations and hard goods for  Kansas Children’s Service League, the state chapter of Prevent Child Abuse America.

About Jerry and Christina

Christina Romero – I am a Licensed Master’s Social Worker with a background in the child welfare system. Outside of work, I enjoy warm weather and any outdoor activity; especially camping and running. The reason for creating Miles4Kids was the desire to make my runs more meaningful by promoting a healthier lifestyle as well as raising money for non-profit programs which focus on at-risk children and their families. I invite you to follow our  blog and learn how Jerry and I are incorporating running into our mission.

Jerry Romero – I’m a driver for FedEx and enjoy running, photography, computers, camping, fishing, chess and listening to a good podcast. Why Miles4Kids? It’s for a great cause and something that my wife and I can do together. To follow what I’m doing,  read my blog or follow us on Twitter or Facebook.
